What exactly is Dark Fae / Night Magic?
Night Magic is Ariana’s inherited Dark Fae power — rare, potent, and unstable until bonded. In the Twilight Realm, it manifests as the ability to tear rifts between worlds. As the series develops, the trio discovers it can also return Vampire Revenants (ancient, insane vampire creatures) to sanity — making their combined power politically explosive.

Does the heroine become progressively more powerful across the series?
Yes. Ariana’s arc is a genuine power progression: she begins unable to control her magic safely, bonds with Quinn to stabilize it in Book 1, adds Lucca’s bond in Book 2–3, and by mid-series she’s actively directing the combined power of the trio. She’s not the same character in Book 5 that she is in Book 1.

Is there a chosen one element?
Yes. Ariana’s specific magic is rare and ancestrally significant — she’s not a random person who happened into power; she’s the product of a lineage with specific supernatural history. The “chosen one” quality is structural, not cosmetic.
