Central — in Book 1, Rikyava has a direct deadline (solve the crime or be exiled) that drives the plot alongside the romance. Each subsequent book deepens the mystery layer as the enemy network behind the dark magic becomes more visible.

Is the mystery resolved, or does it carry across the series?
The overarching mystery — who is behind the Bone Magic conspiracy — carries across the series and reaches its full resolution in Book 6. Individual book-level mysteries are each resolved, but the larger enemy arc builds.

Does the romance take a back seat to the mystery?
